Unfortunately for the twins they should have listened and because they didn't Sam finds himself as a prisoner on the Bone Rattler, a pirate ship known for its ruthless band of pirates. In an official statement, showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill explained, " Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion." This means the story logically wraps up at the end of Locke & Key season 3.
